Lee High School, Jacksonville, Fla., 1962; B.A., University of Georgia, Athens, Ga., 1966; J.D., University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla., 1969; member of the Florida state house of representatives, 1972-1978; member of the Florida senate, 1986-1994; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Seventh and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2001-present).
